About the Creator
Guinevere Clark is a creative writer, dancer, community artist and nurse. She grew up in Grimsby, UK and now lives on the West Wales coast. Her early passion for writing began at school through poetry and short stories. After training and working as a nurse in London, where she initially started to learn belly dance, she went on to study Creative Wrting as part of a Contemporary Arts Degree at Manchester Metropolitan University. Guinevere's first poetry volume - Fresh Fruit and Screams (Bluechrome 2006) is now available directly from her. Having focused her dance and creativity on Belly Dance for many years and studied it via international travel, teaching, practice and performance, she was inspired to write The Belly Dancer's Treasure Pack, launched in Cardiff on the Bellydance Superstars's European show tour in 2011. To combine the dance into an oracle type format was an exciting challenge that involved collaboration with many artists. The Treasure Pack was also supported to market by The Bellydance Superstars's - Miles Copeland and her Creative Writing tutor Mena Elfyn, alongside the myriad of inspirations that came from her students, teachers and her own reflections on the capacities of the dance, especially for women, for self-empowerment, holism and therapeutic creativity.
The Treasure Pack project was organically developed through the text that now forms the pack's guidance book. Artists drew from the words and their own explorations in dance, healing and shamanic/spiritual practice. The deck is split into four elemental suits; water, earth, fire and air.
Guinevere is now enjoying sharing The Belly Dancer's Treasure Pack with dancers all around the world and runs dance workshops to accompany the beautifully illustrated cards. Guinevere's nursing work supports her focus in writing towards self-healing, empowerment and discovery and this is the angle of her next writing project...
