Arabic calligraphy was a huge addition to Western designers in the 80s and 90s and it seems to be making a big comeback. With as many Middle Eastern designers as we see today designing in the Western world, the look is definitely back.
Karen Mulder and Claudia Schiffer modeling Chanel couture evening gowns
embroidered with Arabic calligraphy by Lesage, from the house’s Spring 1993 collection
We have seen many Hollywood celebrities sport new tattoos in Arabic Calligraphy from Angelina Jolie to Ricky Martin. The accessories are definitely adding some Arabic calligraphy to necklaces, rings, ... etc and now we are finally starting to see gowns, dresses and tops with Arabic calligraphy as part of the print! Yay....
These are unique designs but we have no idea who the designer is! If anyone knows, please share!
The Arabic calligraphy inspired jewelry is such a strong statement on earrings, necklaces, rings... etc but body jewelry like the one above is more a show piece but we believe a belly dancer could so pull it off on stage or for a great photo shoot
We absolutely love this design we found but we have no idea who the designer is! Anyone?
I love the idea of combining Marilyn Monroe and Arabic calligraphy and Marilyn in the Palestinian scarf on the front of the shirt! So cool... Designs like this were quite popular in the 80s and 90s with the Palestinian Intidafa and were spread in the west mostly by Arab designers residing in Europe and the US and now they seem to make a come back and we love it!
Previously we posted a little blurb about how Arabic calligraphy is becoming a trend in Western fashion design but this is not just limited to clothing. There are plenty of designers in the Middle East, Europe and the US that are incorporating Arabic calligraphy in their shoe designs! The result is a unique fun look that is quite creative and makes a strong statement in the world of fashion. Check out these beautiful designs
And once again, the magic and beauty of Arabic calligraphy in design. We love this combination. We shared some recently in wall arts and home decor and now this gorgeous simple ring.
The big rings are definitely in especially the multi-finger designs. This one totally rocks the trend and make a statement for sure.
