Belly dance eye makeup and calligraphy!
Growing up in an Arab country, I have always had a great interest and love for the art of Arabic Calligraphy which still is one of my passions.
I often see as I draw the eyeliner for special occasion makeup or belly dance performances as a pracyice of this old beautiful art and I feel that my calligraphy background helps a lot although I am not a big fan of the more pronounced eyeliner look and deep strong Arabic makeup.
However, for the fans of the strong eyeliner look, it is important to note that the liquid eyeliner brushes have always been modeled after the calligraphy pens. The Makeup Forever brand for example has a famous brush that is highly rated and loved called the "400 Calligraphy Brush"

Laura Geller has also a variety of amazing professional pens that create the perfect eyeliner.
Stilla La Quill has smaller travel size brushes modeled after the calligraphy brushes a lot of calligraphy artists love. This eyeliner especially is knows for its versatility. You can create bolder looks and subtle looks all at once with one small pen!

Calligraphy has influenced the makeup industry in more ways than we know. One brand has been very open how this art has inspired their makeup lines. Christian Louboutin has created an entire line based on the art of Calligraphy from eye liner, lip liners and nail polish brushes.
Makeup is art and art has inspired this industry for years and going back to the art itself and learning it could definitely improve your makeup skills.
