The Hagala walk is a term used a lot in Western countries to describe the walking 3/4 shimmy or more the Algerian shimmy.
We have learned both in the past and if you remember, the 3/4 shimmy is the Moroccan shimmy. With the simple Moroccan 3/4 shimmy, the hip lift and drop ends with a step to the side so we are never moving any direction. However with the Algerian shimmy, we end the hip lift and drop with a step forward as we twist the hip forward as well which helps us walk forward, this is the Algerian shimmy which is the same thing as the Hagala Walk.
Arabs use different terminology when they describe belly dance moves. My goal is to introduce you to this terminology but also help you understand its equivalent in the Western world.
