This is one of the oldest costumes I made. This pictures is VERY VERY OLD:) 12 years ago may be. The top is actually a simple bra. I used a simple gold trim that goes around all to cover all the bra and added some lamp beads, seriously lamp beads I took off an old lamp I had when I was in college! the trim also makes the straps of the bra in the back and around the neck.
The skirt is actually a strapless dress that I still own (it was a gift from an old friend). Strapless dress make great long tight skirts because they are tight on top (the small part of the strapless dress) and flows at the bottom.
The belt is a simple beaded belt I got during my first visit to Hong King and it's actually meant to be a scarf that goes over an evening dress.
The bracelets including the big gold bracelet was a gift from my host family when I was in India.
and voila! that's the costume. those were the simple days but still is one of the best costumes I have. I love when a costume is made up of elements you can't tell what they are and that mean something to me. I dance better in those too, I am much happier in them: I have a scarf that belonged to my grand mother and I absolutely love dancing wearing it!
